Measure J Facilities Bond was a local ballot measure on the June 2016 ballot that passed with 66.84% of the vote to repair and upgrade the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District’s aging facilities to ensure a safe and modern education environment.
The Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (LVJUSD) is committed to educational excellence that prepares students to graduate and be successful. LVJUSD schools are among the highest performing in the State of California and help to sustain strong property values in the Livermore community. In 2013, the LVJUSD engaged in a multi-year comprehensive facilities assessment. The facilities assessment identified improvements needed to enhance classroom infrastructure and instructional technology. The facilities assessment also identified energy efficiency improvements and upgrades that could help save on energy costs. LVJUSD solicited and received input from teachers, staff, parents, community members, and the public as part of the facilities needs assessment. Our goal is to provide all students with access to the education and technologies they
will need to be successful throughout school, college, and careers of the future. Safe, modern school facilities and technology infrastructure are essential to ensuring student achievement and peak-performing schools.
Phase 1 Projects Status:
Within the Measure J Bond Program there are several large scale projects that are specifically identified to be constructed. The planning and design of the major projects is moving forward in parallel with the overall program planning and the planning and construction of several other projects. All of the playgrounds within the District are being assessed for repair or replacement, and even though considered smaller in scale than the major projects, these are very important components of our kindergarten through fifth grade programs. Other projects currently being planned include the replacement of many roofs, the replacement of Heating and Air Conditioning systems at multiple campuses, and the replacement of Fire Alarm Systems where needed.
Another very exciting project which will enter a “piloting” or testing of different types of equipment process in the coming months, is the District wide Video Projection and Voice Enhancement Project. Like the Data Infrastructure Project which touches each and every classroom in the District, this project will provide voice enhancement systems so that all areas of the classroom can hear the teacher equally. This project also includes the upgrading or replacement of video projectors in the district to a current standard, which will serve teachers in the delivery of digital educational content materials.
