A Year of Gratitude and a Summer for Growing

Dear Livermore Community,

Throughout this school year, we have focused on showing appreciation for all who contribute to the success of our students and our District. Whether sharing a token of appreciation, or writing a note, or saying “thank you,” we have let our colleagues know that they make a difference in our lives, both professionally and personally. As the school year comes to a close, I continue to be grateful to our entire community for supporting students, families, and staff throughout the year. Thank you to our employees and our partners for all you do!

Please join me in congratulating the almost 1,000 students who graduate this week, moving on to college and career, ready to contribute and thrive in their next endeavor. I am confident that our students are well-prepared for future challenges, thanks to the excellence they have experienced in our schools. I look forward to watching them make a difference in our community and beyond.

Just as our graduates are prepared to be lifelong learners, all of our students can look toward summer as an ideal time for self-directed learning. Today students say goodbye to their teachers, and bring their backpacks home one last time, as they head into summer vacation.  Children will pitch in at home and may have summer jobs. They will also have time to let their imaginations soar. As you enjoy family time this summer, I encourage you to unplug those devices and engage with one another as you explore our parks and libraries, delve into new projects, and create some great memories during the Summer of 2017.

With gratitude,

Kelly Bowers, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
