In partnership with the African American Regional Educators Alliances (AAREA), we are offering AAREA's successful Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) S.T.E.P.S. program locally to our incoming fifth through eighth grade students for the 2017-2018 school year. STEM S.T.E.P.S. is a culturally relevant academic enrichment program that offers STEM and college awareness experiences to participating students through project-based activities, exploration and field trips. The program will take place one Saturday a month from September 2017 through May of 2018. In addition to the student programming, parents will participate in the Regional Parent Network which includes culturally relevant outreach efforts to support families with the information, tools and resources to be a partner with the school, district, and educational entities to enhance the education of African American students.
