February Grapevine Community Newsletter

Focus on Kindness

Dear Livermore Community,
Winter days may still be short, but the brightness in our schools this month is reflective of our bright future. Throughout our District, we are celebrating Science and Engineering, Career and Technical Education (CTE), and Black History Month. I encourage you to attend some of the many events happening throughout our community.

Perhaps the highlight of February, in many of our classrooms, is Valentine’s Day. This year, as we celebrate friendship and family as part of Valentine’s Day, I encourage all of us to extend the kindness we practice on that day into a daily practice. Several years ago, I was the recipient of a “random act of kindness,” and I am still touched by that event and more positive because of it. It’s not surprising that researchers show that being kind actually helps us be happier, healthier, and less stressed. February 12
th-18th has been declared “Random Acts of Kindness Week.” Let’s all plan, intentionally, to be especially kind this month. Our schools, our community, and our lives will benefit!

Warm regards,

Kelly Bowers, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
