December Grapevine: Celebrating Community

Dear Livermore Community,

We move from a month of gratitude to a month of celebration with family, friends, and community. This month, as we share time and gifts with one another, we have much to celebrate throughout our schools and our community.

Even as the days are shorter, the light in our classrooms shines brightly. Throughout our schools, our teachers are actively inspiring our students as they delve into the heart of their studies. Trimester 2 is underway, and students are in the midst of mastering this year’s curricula and showcasing their learning. You may have visited our schools to see STEM projects, or artwork, or video games created by our students. You may be cheering on our scholar athletes at competitions in gyms or outside on cold days. You may be planning to attend musical performances and drama productions that showcase our students’ talents. The vitality in our schools each day continues to prepare our students for their bright futures.

The partnership between our schools and community continues to be a blessing. We are the recipients of community generosity, thanks especially this month to the Livermore Valley Education Foundation and the Rotary Club of Livermore Valley. We also take time to embrace the world outside of the classroom by serving and giving to our community. I am truly inspired by the creative ways our staff and students are brightening the winter months for families in Livermore and beyond.

We have a busy month ahead of us, and time off as we start the New Year to reflect on 2016 and plan for 2017. I encourage you all to take time for yourselves, and to achieve balance among the busy elements in your lives, as you enjoy this festive season.

Happy Holidays!

Kelly Bowers, Ed.D.
