District News & Announcements

9/23/16

M. Theide Photo.JPGSuperintendent Kelly Bowers is proud to announce that Melissa Theide has joined the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District as the Director of Human Resources. “Ms. Theide is a highly respected educator, and we are looking forward to her leadership in our district,” said Dr. Bowers.

Melissa Theide began her career as an educator in 1996, serving as a classroom teacher, an assistant principal, and a principal. Under her leadership, Vintage Hills Elementary School in Pleasanton earned the California Distinguished School Award twice, and won the prestigious National Blue Ribbon Award. Theide comes to the LVJUSD after serving as the Director of Human Resources in Castro Valley.

Ms. Theide graduated cum laude from Azusa Pacific University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. She earned her multiple subject teaching credential from Cal Poly Pomona, and she earned her administrative credential as well as her Masters in Educational Administration from California State University San Bernadino.

Theide and her husband of 22 years live in the Tri-Valley. They have two daughters who are currently pursuing college degrees. Says Theide, “It is an honor to have been selected as the new Director of Human Resources. I am looking forward to serving our staff, students, and community members for many years to come.”

Ms. Theide fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Yolonda Holmes, who led the LVJUSD Human Resources department for the past 15 years. “Programs developed by Ms. Holmes such as the Workplace Wellness Initiative, Classified Professional Development, and the focus on mentoring employees ‘from hire to retire’ have contributed to making the LVJUSD a Top Workplace,” said Dr. Bowers. “We are looking forward to building on these great programs under the leadership of Melissa Theide.”
