The LVEF was organized in 1991 by concerned parent volunteers when Livermore was faced with budget cuts that directly affected the education of our children. The LVEF, established as a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation, directs donations to district programs that donors identify as vital to educational excellence.

Since February of 2003, LVEF role has expanded beyond its historical support of sports and music. In response to an unprecedented financial crisis in the Livermore schools, LVEF expanded support to include endangered core educational programs.

LVEF works with teachers, students and parents to determine where funding is most needed and then oversees the distribution on a district wide basis.

Since its inception the foundation has donated over $1.6 MILLION to the programs of choice,:
- Sports $661,173
- Music $450,672
- Elementary Class Size Reduction $225,000
- Drama/Media $68,369
- High School Crisis Counselors $50,000
- Computer Technicians $41,000
- Misc. Programs $117,392

99% of all funds donated go directly to school programs. All Board members donate their time and efforts.
